This CO2 Varroa mite counter provides a simple, fast, and bee-friendly way to reliably assess infestation levels.
How it works:
• Remove approximately 200 bees from a brood frame (take care not to collect the queen) and place them into the tester
• Briefly anesthetize the bees and mites using CO2
• After 10–20 seconds, gently shake the device for about 10 seconds
Any Varroa mites present will fall through the integrated mesh grid and can then be easily counted. Based on the number of mites counted, you can quickly determine the infestation level of your colony. The bees recover shortly afterward and can be safely returned to the hive unharmed.

Scope of delivery: Varroa mite tester, CO2 dispenser, 2 × 16 g standard CO2 cartridges (sufficient for approx. 12 applications)
Note: CO2 cartridges are under high pressure. During the first one or two applications, a relatively large amount of CO2 may be released. Therefore, apply CO2 only briefly into the counting chamber at the beginning.
